Mary Michael Gallagher

Mary was born Oct. 24, 1944 in Portland, Ore., to Lucas and Virginia (Martin) Thomison. Upon the death of her mother, Mary was raised by her grandparents, Norval and Alice Martin in Portland, Ore. She attended Grant High School, and Lewis and Clark College in Portland where she received a teaching degree. Mary was a 6th grade teacher.

Mary and Don Gallagher married in March of 1969, and enjoyed 25 years together before Don’s death in 1994. Mary and Don lived in Milwaukee, Salem, Pendleton, and LaGrande, and later retired in Sun River.

Mary is survived by three sons: John Gallagher of Portland, Dan Gallagher and his spouse Cindy of McMinnville, and Tim Gallagher of Portland; sisters JoAnne Heath of North Plains, Ore., and Wilda Graves of Sacramento, Calif.; and brother Pat Thomison of Dayton, Ore. One son, Jeff Gallagher, preceded Mary in death.

Services will be held Wednesday, July 8 at 11 a.m. at Young’s Funeral Home in Tigard, Ore. Interment will follow at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore., with a reception following that at Hayden's Lakefront Grill, 8187 SW Tualatin Sherwood Rd, Tualatin, OR 97062.
