I met Mary Catherine when she was my moms roommate at nursing home (can't remember the name of it) on May 25, 2013. My mom's name was Patti McLucas.  My mom passed away on Jul 8, 2013. I have a video of Mary Catherine when I visited my mom. I was reviewing it and started wondering how Mary Catherine was doing or if she was in Heaven with my mom. I googled and found this. A loving Aunt that will definitely be missed. My father (her brother Chuck) was always happier after their phone conversations or visits. You've earned your rest Aunt Mary.

Aunt Mary Catherine was a most gracious lady and a loving friend to all those that knew her. Although we will all miss her greatly, we also know that she will now have that very deserved peaceful rest in the hands of Our Lord. God bless you, Aunt Mary, and all of your family.

Aunt Mary was a kick in the pants! She always had a smile on her face, and most often, a kind word to say (although sometimes it was hard to tell). You never had to wonder what her opinion was. She had a way of speaking her mind, like her mother,and agree with her or not, I always somehow felt better after having spoken with her, which I regret not doing often enough. She had the biggest heart, taking in unwed mothers early on, raising her family, fighting breast cancer, running her business, taking care of Uncle Marv, suffering through the loss of her son Monte (who was a lot like her in many ways), and battling her own health problems to the end! She loved my dad (her brother) and often spent hours telling me fond, and sometimes revealing stories about him growing up. She was truly one of the classiest, but down to earth women I've ever met, and I'll miss her a lot!  God Bless Mary!

We remember Mary when we were in high school.  She and Marv belonged to our Church and he was basketball coach.  We remember her as being a very kind and caring person.  We send our condolences.

Mary Catherine was a close cousin who had a very special place in my heart. I was so thankful to know her as I grew up & also enjoying my many visits with her in recent years. She was such a beautiful person, both inside & out. She was always so cheery, upbeat and always had me laughing over the funny family stories she would share with me. I will miss her dearly. Many thoughts & prayers go out to her family during this very difficult time. She was one of a kind & such a lovely giving person who always cared for others first. She has left a legacy of joy in everyone's hearts.

Mary and Marv moved to Redmond across the street from my house when I was a young girl.  I spent many hours, with Mary, sitting on kitchen counters, cleaning cupboards, etc.  Then Michael John arrived and he was my first babysitting job and did I have fun.  Along came Monte and I had two to talk on walks downtown.  The Scotts moved to Portland but Mary came to my wedding, in Redmond, in 1957.  Life interrupted and our visits were few and far between.  I last visited Mary a couple of years ago at her home.  We had a good, short visit and she wondered why she was still alive. She lived a full life and affected many including me.  Good memories of Mary and Marv.

Mary Catherine was like a second mom to me growing up. Never a dull moment at the house at the end of Brazee ct. Young kids, high school kids, dogs running around. Basketballs, volleyballs, softballs, pool table and ping pong. Grapes, berries, peaches, plums. Truly a childhood of the 70's, and everyone was welcomed. Mary is an inspiration to many and friend to many more. Love to all of you and know you are in my prayers during this time.

Mary Catherine Prentice grew up the only girl in a household of boys. She was a wonderful home maker and friend. Her intelligence and strength helped her raise a family, take in fourteen unwed mothers, and survive a double radical mastectomy. It was this last experience that inspired to open her business "Mary Catherine's" for those who had breast cancer surgeries. She visited many women in the hospital through the "Reach to Recovery" Program, while earning enough through her business to send her children to college and pay for their weddings. She never balked at hard work and was an inspiration to all that knew her. God bless you, Mary Catherine Scott, and may you rest in peace.
