Ned was born to parents, Evelyn and Carl Noretto, on May 12, 1959. He was the baby of the family and grew up with four older siblings: Carlene, John, Mike, and Jeff. The family had roots in Ohio, and Ned spent his childhood in Canton. His family enjoyed the outdoors, and they spent many summer vacations camping and hiking at any location near enough to drive to. After graduating from High School in Canton, Ned set off into the world to make his way.
As a young man, he moved to Florida and then to the Bay Area of California. After living in a landlocked state his whole life, he wanted to be as close to water as possible. Ned believed in hard work and had an impeccable work ethic. He worked a variety of jobs and put himself through college, and eventually found his career in executive management. He was a natural leader, and it didn’t matter what project he was put in charge of, he always found a way to make things more efficient and build relationships with his peers. His coworkers remember him for his warmth and kindness. He worked for staffing agencies for most of his career and was with Kelly Services when he accepted a promotion that included a relocation to the Portland, Oregon area. Later, Ned was called to Non-profit work and finished his career as an Executive Director for the Oregon Child Development Coalition. It was in this role that Ned thrived and found the greatest satisfaction.
Outside of work, Ned was dedicated to his family. His wife, Tonja, and children, Emily and Cole, were his rock. He was so proud of each of his family members and the impact they had on the world. He took immense pride in watching his children participate in sports and school events. As a husband and father, Ned was gentle and caring. He did have a good sense of humor. He was a solid provider and made sure his family was safe and had their needs met.
Ned had an ability to maintain relationships with a wide range of individuals, from coworkers to friends and family, immediate and extended. He kept up with everyone and found ways to celebrate others' small successes and sincerely enjoyed their progress. One of his biggest pastimes was playing golf. He and his brother, John, loved to play golf, and on most dry Saturdays, they tried to find a way to get in a game.
Ned is predeceased by his parents, Carl and Evelyn and his brother John. His memory will be cherished by his wife, Tonja, children Emily and Cole. His siblings: Carlene, Mike, and Jeff. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life Open House will be held in the Noretto home on Sunday, January 18, from 2 pm-5 pm. The family encourages you to join in remembering Ned, and an open time of sharing will be facilitated around 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, you are encouraged to donate in Ned's honor to the Portland Oregon Humane Society
Ned lived his life with kindness, positivity, and a genuine love for others. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
