Phyllis Jean May

Phyllis Jean Wood was born on September 09, 1920 to William and Charlotte Wood in Portland, Oregon. She went on to join her best friend and husband Dr. John Arthur May on 11/22/2014. Phyllis graduated from Washington High School and then attended Oregon State University. For the last three years, she has resided in the Cedar Crest Alzheimer's Care Facility, in Tigard.

Phyllis was the consummate hostess, the ideal wife, and loving Mother. She adored her family, her organizations and her home. She was a sister in P.E.O., a Kappa Kappa Gamma for life and spent much of her free time at the Multnomah Club. Mom was known for her impeccable housekeeping, her involvement with her children, and her incredible dinner parties. When not in town, she and Art would spend time at their Beach home in Salishan. She loved her walks on the beach and entertaining there as well.

Even though Alzheimer's disease took much of Mom's memory, almost until the end, she was heard to regale us with her OSU loyalty: "A, Beaver born, a Beaver bred, and when I die, I'll be a Beaver dead".

The Family thanks all the staff at Cedar Crest, and Serenity Hospice for their loving care, patience, and tender attention.

Phyllis was predeceased by her loving husband Art. She is survived by her four children Bill, Robert, John (Jackie) and Susan (Dean). She has seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Private family services will be held on Saturday, December 13 at 11 AM at St. James Episcopal Church in Tigard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the ARC of Oregon.
