Phyllis passed away from cancer on Thursday, December 1, 2011. She was born May 31, 1929 to Ernest and Lois Hammann and grew up in Portland. She attended Jefferson High School and Lewis & Clark College. Phyllis worked at Paul Rising Insurance Agency for 30 years.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Merlin; son, Dr. Alan (Zung); daughter Marlynn Rust (Jerry);sister, Linda Gaarder; brother, Fred Hammann; also surviving are six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 18, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 6835 S.W. 46th Avenue, Portland, Oregon 97219. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
