Charles Richard Connelly, age 78, of Magnolia, DE, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2022, at Compass Regional Hospice in Centreville, MD.
Born in Baltimore, MD, on June 21, 1943, son to the late Charles Raymond Connelly Jr. and Dorothy Marie Pross, he graduated from Towson High School in 1962. Richard Connelly or “Dick” Connelly, as he was known to his friends and colleagues, worked for many years as a manager for Watson’s Garden Center in Lutherville-Timonium. He was a vice president for S. Berger Imports Co. and for the past four decades, was head of marketing and sales at Dick Connelly Sales, representing companies like Border Concepts and Bar Harbor Cedar, LLC. Richard is remembered as an avid golfer and talented award-winning amateur woodworker, with a hand-made line of ornaments and decorative carvings produced under the name Big Tree Studios. He was a member of the Penna. Delaware Valley Wood Carvers and National Wood Carvers Association.
He was married to JoAnn Grace Connelly (nee Cairns) on June 28, 1962, in Havre De Grace, MD. He was a previous resident of Timonium, MD, and Hunt Valley, MD.
He is survived by daughter Colleen Grace Fleckenstein and son-in-law Jeffrey Scott Fleckenstein of Rock Hall, MD: son John Charles Connelly and son-in-law Joseph Frederick Janka of Santa Barbara, CA; grandson Jacob Scott Fleckenstein and his wife Ivy Arbaugh Fleckenstein of Fairfax, VA. Stepbrother Ted Hafenmair and his wife Darlene of Hanover, PA, and Roland Hafenmair and his wife Michele of Parkton, MD.
He is predeceased by spouse JoAnn Grace Connelly, sister Helen Elaine Connelly, Aunt Charlotte M. Connelly Hook, step-brother Robert Hafenmair and step-mother Lisa Connelly.
JOANN GRACE CONNELLY
JoAnn Grace Connelly age 75 resident of Magnolia, DE passed away on March 17th, 2020, at Delaware Hospice in Milford, DE from complications of cancer. Born in Baltimore, MD on December 27, 1944, to John E. Cairns and Grace P. Cairns. She attended Towson High School and the College of Notre Dame of Maryland majoring in Business Management and Computer Information Systems. JoAnn had many years of experience managing customer service and telemarketing and sales for the healthcare industry and for Fortune 500 companies. She was a customer service leader at Tesco for many years in Hunt Valley, MD and was co-owner of her own design company Diva Designs.
Married to Charles Richard Connelly on June 28, 1962, in Havre De Grace, MD. She is a previous resident of Timonium, MD and Hunt Valley, MD. She loved her family, watching classic movies, dogs (especially Golden Retrievers), reading, shopping, and rooting for her beloved Baltimore Ravens.
She survived by her daughter Colleen Grace Fleckenstein and son-in-law Jeffrey Scott Fleckenstein of Rock Hall, MD: son John Charles Connelly and son-in-law Joseph Frederick Janka of Santa Barbara, CA; grandson Jacob Scott Fleckenstein and his wife Ivy Arbaugh Fleckenstein of Fairfax, VA.
