Eileen was the beloved wife of Matteo (Mike) Lamasa, who predeceased her in 2012. She was also a loving daughter, sister and friend. Eileen was a favorite aunt to dozens and dozens of nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews, and great, great nieces/nephews. She maintained lifelong relationships with family and friends across the country.
Eileen was the one that everybody wanted to have at their gatherings. She made people feel appreciated and loved. She had a quick wit with a huge dose of silliness. She could engage in conversations about everything from hummingbirds to politics. She was also a great listener and trusted confidant.
Eileen was a Renaissance woman, interested in history as well as current events. She had a successful career at Maryland's leading medical professional liability insurer. She studied English Literature and participated in several book clubs. She loved to travel and had visited 50 of the 52 states and many countries abroad. She was a generous supporter of the arts and public television. She loved animals and was a great dog mom. She loved to walk in nature and take in the unique beauty of each season. She took pleasure in maintaining an active lifestyle and did so until she became ill. Her illness was unexpected and challenging, yet she maintained her courage and dignity through it all.
We who knew and loved Eileen now grieve. Her passing leaves a huge void in our lives. May we remember her sparkling blue eyes and bright smile and the way she made us feel loved.
