

Frederick Wesley Brown, 87, resident of Charlestown Retirement Community
and long time resident of the Timonium area,
died peacefully on March 23, 2016. Born in the Walbrook section of Baltimore,
he was the youngest child of the late Walter and Amy (Wade) Brown.
Fred was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Nancy Redford Brown, the love of his life.
He is survived by a son, Robert Redford Brown, and his companion Susan L. Hansen, of Bel Air,
and by a daughter and son in law, Jeanne and Keith Gardner of Manhattan Beach, California.
He had four devoted grandchildren, Robert R. Brown, Jr., Grason K. Brown, Lindsay R. Gardner,
and Jacquelyn M. Gardner; and two sisters, Amy Ellen Donnelly and Doris Wilson.
He was predeceased by a brother, Wade Brown, and sisters E. Myrta Schiller and Irene Hare.
Mr. Brown spent his childhood summers growing up at his parent's shore home at Black Hole Creek
on the Magothy River, and enjoyed working on the family farm in Westminster.
He was a 1946 graduate of the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and earned
a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
from the Johns Hopkins University in 1949. Mr. Brown served in the United States Army.
Fred and Nancy were founding members of Epiphany Episcopal Church in Timonium.
Fred was an avid sailor and loved sailing the Chesapeake Bay with Nan and friends.
He also loved chartering boats in the Caribbean and sailing from island to island and restaurant to restaurant.
The family will receive friends at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel, Charlestown Retirement Community,
711 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, MD on Saturday, April 2 from 12:30 to 1:30 PM
at which time a funeral service will be celebrated at 1:30 PM. Interment will follow at
Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be directed
in Mr. Brown’s memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society,
