
Peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 13, 2011 JOSEPH FALCONE of Towson; cherished husband of Lillian Genova Falcone; loving father of Gina Falcone Skelton and her husband Claude and Anthony Joseph Falcone and his wife Susan; beloved grandfather of Nathan Joseph Skelton and his wife Rachel, Benjamin Joseph Falcone and his wife Karen, Elizabeth Lee Sprouls and her husband Kevin, Daniel Steven Falcone and his wife Jennifer, Aaron Augustus and Sarah Juliana Falcone; devoted great-grandfather of Reyna Elaine and Vincent Joseph Falcone, Madeline Jane and Owen Michael Sprouls and Clara Jane Falcone. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Joseph was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. During WWII, he served for 3½ years in the Pacific Theater as a Master Sergeant in the Army Signal Corps. Upon his discharge, he was offered a position with what was to become the National Security Agency, prompting his relocation to the Washington D.C. area to begin of a lifetime of service with NSA as well as the completion of his education at George Washington University. In 1947, in New York, Joe married Lillian Genova, “the girl next door”. They resided in Virginia for 55 years before moving to Maryland in 2002. Joe had many interests. As a young father, he was involved in his children’s activities, coaching Little League, leading Boy Scouts, and ferrying his daughter back and forth to weekend art lessons for years. He loved to play bridge and golf and to square and round dance. A skilled carpenter, he helped build houses for Habitat for Humanity, completely remodeled his and Lillian’s home at Lake of the Woods, VA., and built classrooms for his church’s school there. He was a charter and Grand Knight member of the Knights of Columbus and a past president of the Lions Club. Joe was a true humanitarian, helping neighbors and strangers whenever he saw the need.
The family will receive friends in the LEMMON FUNERAL HOME OF DULANEY VALLEY INC. 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, MD 21093 on Friday, 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 100 Church Lane, Cockeysville, MD 21030 on Saturday, December 17 at 10am. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph’s memory to St. Joseph Parish “Good Samaritan Fund”, at the above address and/or Knights of Columbus #4011, P.O. Box 52, Lutherville, MD 21094.
