On February 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at home in Sparks, Maryland, Kitti Lee Brown left this worldly life to be with the Lord. Kitti was a devoted daughter and sister, a beloved wife, and a highly dedicated mother. Her life revolved around her family. She is survived by her mother, Donna Palmer; husband, Robert J. Brown, Jr.; daughter, Elizabeth Ellen Brown; sister, Lisa Kay Scott; brother, Philip Jay Brown; and many nieces, nephews, stepsisters, and in-laws.
Kitti was a California girl, the oldest of the three children, all who were born in the small central California town of Coalinga. After a short time in Washington State, the family relocated back to California to the San Fernando Valley in 1965. Growing up, she was the typical California girl who loved being at the beaches around Los Angeles. She did say she could live without the earthquakes though. While working there in the defense industry, she met Bob, and they shared 35 wonderful years of marriage. Kitti’s maiden name was Brown and her husband liked to refer to her as Kitti Lee Brown Brown. Seven years later, with their toddler, Elizabeth, aged 3 ½, they packed up their life and moved to Maryland, where Bob’s parents and three of his siblings were living. Kitti was immediately treasured and loved by all the East Coast Browns, and her significance within the family steadily grew due to her constant good cheer, humor, ability to relate to all and her matter-of-fact common sense.
After moving to Maryland, she regularly flew west to join her sister Lisa, her true Best Friend. They drove long distances along the West Coast and Northwest together to visit their mother and other relatives. Regardless of which coast she was on, Kitti loved large get togethers for holidays, birthdays, and any other occasions, grand or small. With great enthusiasm she attended hundreds of her daughter’s basketball games from Elizabeth’s youth games through her college playing and coaching years.
In addition to unwavering devotion to their daughter, she and her husband hosted two Brazilian foreign exchange students, twenty-seven years apart. (Their second student was the son of their first exchange student, Rudy) When Francisco arrived from Brazil, Kitti, who had retired, took the lead diligently, providing TLC alongside the occasional dose of tough love. A few of the kids that she met through Francisco still came by to visit her after he left. That’s just another indicator of how so many were drawn to the comfort place that was Kitti.
Over the years, Kitti became a true Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens fan. She was a meticulous housekeeper and rotated her décor with the change of seasons. She kept her home well-organized and always tidy. Kitti enjoyed watching classic movies and crime scene investigation television shows with her Husband. She regularly read or listened to good fiction.
Through out Kitti’s at times difficult and frustrating journey, she exhibited strength, humor, grace and a determination that inspired those around her. She provided a remarkable example of how to face adversity. Even when her doctors shared sobering forecasts and the odds were stacked against her, Kitti worked valiantly to keep living and moving forward. She never gave up!
Please know how much you all meant to her.
Kitti’s contribution to the world will not be found in headlines. Her graciousness, warmth, and caring were felt by all that met her. She will long be remembered for her quiet strength and gentle ways. She made the world a kinder and happier place.
A funeral mass for Kitti will be celebrated at Saint Joseph’s church, 100 Church Lane, Cockeysville, Maryland 21030 on Friday, February 13th, 2026 at 11am.
For those that cannot attend the church, the service will be livestreamed and recorded (saved) so it can be watched when schedules allow.
