

She was the beloved daughter of the late Loretta and Oscar Helmer and the devoted wife of the late Hyatt A. Duke. Marlene was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth "Chip" Duke, and will be laid to rest beside him at Dulaney Gardens.
Marlene is survived by her loving children, Terry, Cindy, and Laurie; four cherished grandchildren James, Joseph, Michael, Dani; and four treasured great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy.
A lifelong educator, Marlene earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Towson University and her master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University. She dedicated her professional life to serving as a teacher and counselor in Baltimore County, where she touched countless lives with her compassion and commitment to education.
Outside of her career, Marlene found happiness in simple pleasures. She loved all animals, especially cats, and enjoyed living by the water and was an enthusiastic fan of the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles. She always said that she liked kids, cats, and convertibles.
Marlene will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
