She was 74 years old. Pat was the oldest of three, and grew up in Timonium, Maryland. She was a member of the first graduating class at Dulaney Valley High School in Timonium in 1966. Pat earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Delaware and was a registered nurse for 32 years - first at St. Joseph's Hospital in Baltimore, MD, and then at Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT. She cared for thousands of new mothers and their newborns as both a certified childbirth educator and lactation consultant. Pat met her husband, Robert, at Dulaney Valley HS and the two were happily married for 52 years. Pat and Robert had two daughters; Christine, who initially followed in her mother's footsteps as a nurse, and Pamela, who tragically passed away in July. As retirees, Pat and her husband Bob returned home to the Timonium area where they spent time with family, travelled, or cuddled with their sweet dog Annabel. When Pat was not busy being a wife, a mother, and a nurse, Pat was a quilter. Quilting was one of the beautiful ways Pat expressed her love and friendship. Many people are fortunate to have one of her quilts draped over a couch, or hanging on the wall. But if you missed out on her quilting, then you likely tasted one of her baked goods. Except for the rare pound cake made without sugar, or the burnt brownie accidentally left on the hot kitchen stove, her cakes, Christmas Cookies, and candy were among the very best. She was a member of countless quilt groups and book clubs - partly for the quilting and the books, but also for the conversation. Because above all, Pat loved people. She made a friend wherever she went - it was rare to go somewhere with her and not run into someone she knew. She could and would talk to anyone. She made you feel heard and valued, even later in life when she could not always hear what you were saying without her hearing aids. Pat was so much to so many people - a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, sister in law, godmother, friend, neighbor, coworker, and a volunteer. Pat is survived by her loving husband Robert of 52 years; her daughter Christine; and her brothers William and Phillip. She leaves behind her sister in law Kathy Volk; her brother in law Alan Danielson and his wife Katherine Danielson; her sister in law Janet Danziger and her husband Pedro Danziger; as well as her niece Karen Danielson; and her nephews Steven Danielson, David, Michael, and Andrew Danziger, and Michael and Nicholas Volk. She was predeceased by her parents Milton and Betty Volk; her niece Jenny Driscoll; her nephew Matthew Danziger and her beloved daughter Pamela. They say that the death of a loved one is like an amputation. With Pat, the world lost a vital limb. But her family and friends will forever be better for having had her in their lives. Family and close friends will gather at a later date in her memory. In place of flowers, and for those who are able, the family prefers donations to be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project, in Pat's honor.
Interment private.
