OBITUARY

Shelia White Johnson

27 August, 1950 – 3 May, 2025
IN THE CARE OF

Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley Inc.

Shelia White Johnson, 74, peacefully left this world on May 3, 2025; loving and devoted mother of Chad Johnson and his partner Yi Chen; dear sister of Judy White, Pamela Pegahi, and Sharon White. Shelia was a woman of faith, love, and generosity, dedicated to uplifting others and embracing life’s fullest joys.

Born with a passion for education, Shelia earned her BS in Education from East Carolina University and later achieved her MS in Education from Old Dominion University. She began her career as a teacher before finding her true calling as a guidance counselor, serving for over 25 years in the Virginia Beach Public School System. Even after retirement, her passion for helping others remained, as she continued her work as a long-term substitute guidance counselor for another seven years.

An active member of Greenbrier Presbyterian Church, Shelia embodied kindness and service, always giving back to others. She found joy in cooking, gardening, traveling, singing, and dancing—embracing life’s simple yet beautiful moments. She found happiness in nurturing flowers, sharing meals with loved ones, spending time with her family and friends, and offering a listening ear to comfort others.

In her final chapter, Shelia found warmth and friendship at The Cottages of Perry Hall, where she was embraced with love and dignity. She formed wonderful new connections, enjoyed lively events, and created lasting memories with her family. Her family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care she received there.

To honor Shelia’s legacy, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in support of continued research. If unable to contribute financially, the family encourages acts of kindness in her memory—small gestures of love, just as she would have done for others, to keep her spirit alive. http://act.alz.org/goto/sjohnson321
