Sir Felix was born in Obuama, Rivers State, Nigeria, to Chief Mark Tom Big Harry of Obuama, in the Degema Local Government Area, and Amile Iwo Lugard Bob-Manuel of Abonnema, in the Akuku Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria. Sir Felix lived a life marked by humility, faith, and a deep commitment to peace and love. A native of Nigeria, he spent his early years in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he began his educational journey at St. Joseph Catholic Primary School, earning his First School Leaving Certificate. He later gained admission to Stella Maris College and subsequently transferred to Baptist High School, where he obtained his West African School Certificate (WAEC).
As a young man in his early twenties, Sir Felix made the courageous decision to relocate to the United States of America in pursuit of greater opportunities and higher education. He graduated from Florida Memorial College in Miami, Florida. His dedication to growth and service led him to various professional roles over the years, including his early career with the Lagos State Ministry of Finance in Nigeria, where he served in the Revenue Unit. After settling in the United States, he eventually made Baltimore, Maryland his home, where he faithfully worked in the employment of the State of Maryland until his retirement.
Sir Felix was known to many as a kind, peaceful, loving, and humble man—a gentle soul in a world often filled with chaos. He was a thoughtful individual and an intentional listener, someone who made others feel seen, heard, and valued. He was a natural peacemaker, consistently choosing fairness, compassion, and understanding in his interactions with others. His life reflected the belief that peace and love are the foundations of a better world, a lesson he quietly but powerfully imparted to all who knew him.
A devoted man of faith, Sir Felix’s Catholic beliefs were central to his life. He endured life’s trials with grace and unwavering trust in God. He was an active member of his church community, singing joyfully in the choir at St. Matthew’s and participating in the Knights of Columbus. His love for music and singing was not only a personal passion but also a form of worship and connection.
Beyond his public life, Sir Felix found meaning in being present for others, especially during difficult times. He offered comfort, wisdom, and a steady presence, embodying the true spirit of compassion and fellowship.
He was married to his beloved wife, Mrs. Augusta (“Sunshine”) Harry and is survived by his stepchildren and step-grandchildren, as well as his siblings and a wide circle of relatives and loved ones. His legacy of peace, kindness, and faith will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know him.
Sir Felix was also a proud Knight of St. Mulumba and an active member of his ethnic social groups, maintaining strong cultural and spiritual ties throughout his life.
As we remember Sir Felix, we celebrate a life well lived—a life rooted in love, guided by faith, and dedicated to bringing peace to others. May his gentle soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in the bosom of the Lord.
