

Jim Chavez, 61, passed away in Avondale, AZ on March 6, 2021. A Sheet Metal Aviation Mechanic whose love for life did not come to an end with his passing.The simplest of pleasures in life brought great joy to Jim. Among his many interests were music, reading, cooking, dancing, horseracing, fishing, gambling, and spending time with his family and friends. He loved the outdoors, especially the beach. He enjoyed The Beach Boys, The Stray Cats, Tony Orlando, and The Bee Gees. Jim also had a lifelong passion for airplanes.
Jim was born in Los Angeles, CA and graduated from Huntington Park High School. He was also in the U.S. Navy as an Antisubmarine Warfare Technician.
Jim is survived by his children Katrina (Julian) Lopez of Belen, NM, son’s Joseph and Jimmy Chavez of Albuquerque, NM; his father Cecilio Chavez of Albuquerque, NM; siblings Junie (Miriam) Chavez of Norco, CA, Loretta Chavez of Albuquerque, NM, Martin (Lisa) Chavez of Whittier, CA, and Leonard “Doobie” (Norma) Quintana of Los Alamitos, CA; Grandchildren Zariah, Michael and Julian III “Peanut”; Nieces and Nephews Andrea (William) of San Marcos, CA, Gabriel and significant other Monnica of Albuquerque, NM, Gregory and significant other Cheyenne of Albuquerque, NM, DJ and Samantha of Whittier, CA and a host of loving Great Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, longtime friends and coworkers.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife Kristine; loving Mother Helen Chavez; Grandparents Crecenciano and Lucy Lucero and Flavio and Delfinia Chavez.
