Agnes Shiels, 83, of Berkeley Township, NJ, passed away on January 8, 2019, at the Arbors Care Center in Manchester Township, NJ. She was born in Jersey City, NJ, and lived in Kearny until moving to Toms River in 1969, then Bayville in 2000. Agnes was a graduate of St. Cecelia H. S. in Kearny. She loved being outdoors. Her hobbies included crocheting and reading. Agnes had the gift of gab. She loved to talk to people and enjoyed funny quotes. She was very proud of her Irish and Scottish heritage. Agnes worked as a transportation specialist for Amber Taxi Service for 15 years where her charismatic personality brought much cheer to her patrons. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and will be dearly missed by her family.
Agnes was predeceased by her parents, John and Mary (Cambell) Shields, her three brothers: William, Patrick, and Jackie; her son James and daughter Mary; her granddaughter Katie and grandson Kevin, and her great-granddaughter Audrey. She is survived by her children: Colleen, Patricia and husband Mark, Nancy, and Rose; and her grandchildren: Chris, Carrie, Diane, Kelly, Dale, Mariann, Curt, and Brian. Agnes is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren, her niece Erin, her nephew John, many foster children, and her extended family and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 10th, 2018, from 2 to 6 PM, at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ 08753. The Funeral Service will be held during the visitation at 3 PM. Cremation will be private.
