Carole Elizabeth Reid

Carole Elizabeth Reid, age 81, of Toms River passed away peacefully and surrounded by family, on Friday, January 31, 2020 at 11:50 AM after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Carole was born in New York City, she lived there until moving to Upper Montclair in 1973. She lived in Denville and Hillsboro, Oregon before settling in Toms River in 2002.

Carole was a devoted mother and had a good sense of humor.  She loved to read and enjoyed puzzles, especially the New York Times crossword puzzle, which she did with her dad on Sundays.  She was a huge fan of Jeopardy and enjoyed learning.

She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Emily Chatelaine and her siblings Patricia McMahon and Elaine, Donald, and Charlie Chatelaine. Surviving are her children, Joseph Reid and his wife Julie of Island Heights and Patricia Pence of Toms River; two grandchildren, Christopher and Olivia Reid; and her sister, Barbara Hipp of Florida; as well as many nieces and nephews; Michelle, Bob, Charles, Linda, Jean, Diane, Michael, Dan, Mark and Christina.

Cremation was private under the direction of Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services in Toms River and Carole’s ashes will be sprinkled at sea in a private ceremony with family.
