Charles Edward Kot departed this Earth on Friday April 27, 2018. Born November 10, 1988 to Barbara and Charles Kot in Jersey City, Charlie Boy immediately brought love, light, and laughter into their lives, stealing the heart of his older sister. From a young age, Charlie was known for his enormous, beautiful brown eyes, his sense of humor, his intense love of music, his easy going attitude, and his sharp wit. He had the ability to bring warmth and charm into any room, easily disarming you with his smile, and an uncanny gift to make anyone erupt in laughter and could calm the most tense situation. Charlie loved sports, especially ice hockey, and was a lifelong NY Rangers, NY Jets, and LA Dodgers fan, attending Jets games with his dad, and was thrilled to watch the Dodgers in the 2017 World Series. He enjoyed reading, especially historical fiction and fantasy, and loved the Harry Potter and Game of Thrones series. Charlie had a standing weekly date for snacking and watching the Game of Thrones television series with his aunt and cousin and best friend, Carol and Ryan Harnett. He enjoyed movies, video games, was a huge Star Wars fan, loved roller coasters and sampling new cuisine, especially spicy foods, and was passionate about social issues, politics, and the environment. He was a talented guitar player, playing with various bands throughout the years, and loved playing music with his niece and nephew, jamming with his uncle David Bonilla and family in the Bonilla Sludge summer reunions. He was a graduate of Toms River High School East (2007) and is survived by his parents, Barbara L. (nee Daly) and Charles T. Kot, his sister and her husband Devon and Matthew Mazza, his niece and goddaughter Penelope Grace Mazza and nephew Kelly Anthony Mazza, his aunt and uncle Patricia and Bill Lawler, his aunt Coleen Daly and her husband Donald Kubs, his aunt Pamela Daly, and numerous cousins and friends who loved him dearly. He was welcomed to the other side of the veil by his grandparents, Lorraine and Charles Kot and Dorothy and Edward Daly, his uncle and godfather Stephen T. Kot, his uncle Edward J. Daly, Jr., and his aunt Sharon C. Bonilla. Charlie felt most at peace in the ocean, and loved to spend a long day at the beach. In lieu of flowers, his family asks you to honor Charlie’s deep love of animals by making a donation in his memory to Best Friends Animal Society: https://bestfriends.org/donate/make-gift-memory
