

Dino (Dean) Altobelli, 94, of Manchester NJ and Hollywood Florida passed away on August 2, 2021. He was born on September 15, 1926 in Robertsdale PA, son of John and Esther Altobelli. The family later moved to Elizabeth NJ. Dean served in the Army Air Force and later attended the University of Buffalo. He married the love of his life Irene DeRocco in 1950 and raised three children, twins John and Esther and younger son Frank after moving to Linden, NJ. Dean was employed by the state of New Jersey as an official for the Division of Consumer Affairs, Department of Weights and Measures. He was predeceased in death by wife Irene (2007) and son Frank (2014). Dean enjoyed all sports especially golf and watching the New York Yankees, never missing a game.
Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially during holiday gatherings. Dean was also a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Toms River. He was a generous contributor to several charities including St. Jude's Children's Hospital, the Wounded Warriors Project, and various Catholic and political organizations and causes.
He is survived by brothers Leo Altobelli of Manchester, NJ, Robert Altobelli of Salem, NY, son John Altobelli of Bradley Beach, NJ, and daughter Esther Schram of Toms River, NJ. Dean also leaves behind four lovely grandchildren, Jack Altobelli, of Hackettstown NJ, Katie Schram, of Nashville TN, Ashley Altobelli, of Big Pine Key, FL, and Anthony Altobelli, of Roseto, PA and four beautiful great granddaughters, Lia, Danielle, Haley and Meadow.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 12th from 4 to 8 pm at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River NJ, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at, St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 685 HooperAvenue, Toms River NJ, at 10 am on Friday, August 13th.
