

Edward F. Noonan, age 66, of Toms River, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he resided in Staten Island before coming to Toms River in 1977. He was known to many as Captain Ed having served as Fleet Captain of the Gilford Park Yacht Club. He loved fishing, golf and the Mets. Ed was proud to have served as a Sergeant with the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division during Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a special education teacher at Southern Regional High School for 30 years before his retirement. Ed was often described as larger than life having numerous friends, colleagues, fellow legionnaires and yachtsmen, but when queried Ed always said he was most proud of his children. He is survived by three daughters Tara Oizerowitz and her husband Michael, Heather McKittrick and her husband Michael and Courtney Bell and her husband Kevin; his son Connor Noonan; his brother Thomas Noonan and his sister Patricia Schuckle. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren: Olivia, Sophia, Jake, Caitlin, Declan, Colin and Evelyn.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 2:00 PM until the funeral service at 5:30 PM at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River.
