

George W. Clayton, 83, of Bayville, NJ passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 7, 2024. He was a lifelong resident of Toms River and a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge. George graduated from Toms River High School in 1960. At the age of 17, he started his career with the Dover Township Public Works as garbage man and made his way up to Dover Township Public Works Director until his retirement in 1995. After retirement, he moved to Texas where he spent time enjoying boating and cherished time with his grandchildren. He moved back to NJ in 2017 where continued to enjoy fishing and time with his family.
He was predeceased by his wife Barbara Clayton. George is survived by his sons Craig and wife Denise and Dean and wife Veronica; daughters Karen Clayton, Holly Clayton and Susan Lebel and husband Joseph; 12 grandchildren; and his sister Judith Clayton.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 11 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River. A Funeral Service will be on Thursday, 10 am at Anderson and Campbell, Toms River. A Committal Service will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Toms River.
