Born in Brünn,Czechoslovakia,he came to the United States in 1960, settling in Lyndhurst. In 1966, became a Naturalized Citizen of The United States. In 1967 moved to Toms River, where he resided until his passing.
Mr
Schatek worked as a molder from 1960-1976 and later was self-employed as a Domestic Engineer and a Gardner until he retired. In addition, he owned a pizzeria."Harry's Pizza, in Nutley, for three years. In Germany, he loved playing soccer in the German leagues and he continued to play when he came to the United States.
He was a pillar of in the community.
He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Anneliese; three children, Michael and his wife Amanda, Roseanne, Lisa Schatek-Steimle and her Husband Christopher of ,FL; two grandsons, Scott Michael and Brendan Nicholas; a great-granddaughter, Braelynn McKenna; and His siblings that reside in Europe.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-4 and
6-8 at Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday evening at 7:30pm at the funeral home, with private cremation following.
