

James P. Lenox, 76, a teacher, principal, educator and administrator during a 30-year career with the Marie H. Katzenbach School for the Deaf in Trenton, NJ, passed away on June 4. He lived in Morrisville, PA before moving to Island Heights, NJ in 1994.
After graduating from Morrisville High School in 1959, Mr. Lenox earned an Associate of Arts from Trenton Junior College and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Millersville State University in 1964. He received a Master's degree from Trenton State College in 1967 and advanced post-graduate certificates from Rutgers University, Trenton State College, and Rider University.
Mr. Lenox began his career as a social science teacher at the Academic High School at the Katzenbach School in 1964. In 1972, he was appointed Principal of the Boys Vocational High School and, in 1975, principal of the Academic High School, a post he held until 1988 when he was named Director of Educational Services for the entire campus, a position he retired from in 1994.
In 1964, Mr. Lenox married Virginia Lynn Orth. The couple lived in Morrisville, PA for thirty years before retiring to Island Heights, NJ. During their time in PA, he was active in Morrisville Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and an elder. In retirement, Mr. Lenox was active with the Toms River Seaport Society where he served as President for two years. He served on Rider University's School of Education Advisory Board from 1993-1997. A life-long sailor, he spent his life on the waters of Toms River sailing, kayaking, and fishing.
In addition to his wife Lynn, Mr. Lenox is survived by a son, Michael J. Lenox of Charlottesville, VA and four grandchildren, Janie and CJ Meiser and Ben and Haley Lenox. He was proceeded in death by a daughter, Kimberly L. Meiser, and a brother, Richard E. Lenox who was the father of Jeffrey E. Lenox of Toms River, NJ.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Wednesday at United Methodist Church, 115 Ocean Ave., Island Heights, N.J.
