

Jean Rea Krauss (nee Mancill) - 88, of Toms River, NJ; beloved wife, mother, and adoring grandmother and great-grandmother, passed peacefully on Saturday, February 15th, 2025, at home with family by her side.
Jean was born February 11th, 1937 and raised in Haddonfield, NJ graduating from Haddonfield High School in 1954. She studied at Trenton Teachers College where she received her BA in music education in 1958. It was at college where she met the love of her life, Paul J. Krauss, marrying in 1958 and settling in Bound Brook, NJ.
She was a devoted mother to four children and their spouses, Richard and Victoria Krauss, William and Linda Krauss, Susan (Krauss) Haase and Ralph Celebre, and Steven and Domenica Krauss. Jean is also survived and loved by 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren: Dane Krauss, Jesse Krauss, Heather Haase, Casey Krauss, Rachael Krauss, Nicholas Krauss, Kurt Krauss, Joe Krauss, Matt Krauss, and Callie Krauss and their significant others Jean considered as her own grandkids: Jenny Krauss (Dane), Corey Krauss (Jesse), Hailey Krauss (Casey), Caroline Daroci (Nicholas Krauss), Madalyn Zuber (Joseph Krauss), Michael Santaromita (Rachael Krauss) and Kevin Rodriguez (Heather Haase). Great-grandchildren: Finn and Tessa Krauss.
While raising her children, Jean worked in the Bound Brook School System as a regular substitute teacher. She went on to work for Somerset County as a Coordinator for the Youth Services Commission. Jean was appointed by Governor Christie Todd Whitman as a member of the Advisory Council on Juvenile Justice Reform. She was lauded for her dedicated work as Chairperson on this Commission and recognized by the State of NJ.
Jean was also a long time board member at Carrier Clinic, Behavioral Health System. After retirement - Jean and Paul moved to Toms River where they regularly enjoyed their boat on the Barnegat Bay.
Jean and Paul treasured their friendships hosting many gatherings in their home and through Brook Fellowship at the Bound Brook Presbyterian Church where they were congregants for many years and their friend-formed Drama Club. Lots of joy and laughter were had.
Jean was an accomplished pianist known to step in whenever upon any request. She loved playing bridge participating in many clubs with friends including the Toms River Yacht Club where they were members.
Jean was an active sister of P.E.O. International Sisterhood (Chapters I, New Brunswick and AL,Toms River) assuming roles on the Board including Chapter President.
She enjoyed her daily crossword puzzles and rarely missed a night of Jeopardy. She loved her dogs and cats, naming a few: JoJo, Andy, Sandy and Duncan.
Her loss is felt deeply among those who knew and loved her.
Visitation is planned for Wednesday, February 19th, at Anderson Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ between 4:00-7:00pm. A memorial service will be held at 6:30pm.
Plans for cremation will follow with private interment.
