J. Elizabeth Thompson, 95, of Toms River, passed away at Bay Lea Village Care Center on July 4, 2013 surrounded by the loving care of Vista Hospice. Elizabeth was born in Hightstown, NJ on Dec. 21, 1917 and moved to Toms River at the age of three. Elizabeth graduated from Toms River High School and was a secretary with the Thomas A. Mathis Insurance Agency in Toms River. She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Toms River, a long time choir member and member of the Susanna Circle.
She is survived by several caring church members and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents George W. and Jesse Thompson and her brother G. Vivian Thompson and his wife Marion.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers a donation to the First United Methodist Church, 129 Chestnut St., Toms River, NJ 08753 in memory of Elizabeth would be appreciated.
