

She was born in Trenton, NJ and lived in Reading, San Diego and Baltimore before returning to NJ. Joan loved to travel, most especially to Ireland. Her family was her pride and joy.
Joan is predeceased by her parents W. Frank and Anne Nelson; her sister Marcia Bear and brother Jack Nelson; her grandchildren Christopher and Jennifer Meuerle; and the love of her life for thirty-nine years, Francis Nangle.
She is survived by her brother, Jimmy and Linda Nelson; her children, Kathy Nangle, Pat and Tom Gardner, Mary and Dennis Puma, Maureen and Don Roberts, Rose and Kevin Leslie and Cathy Beetel; her grandchildren, Sean and Melanie Meuerle, Kate and Ned Hall, Ryan and Amy Puma, Matt and Lisa Gardner, Tara and Mike Iannello, Danielle and Jeff Ascough, Ian Moyer and Sabrina Distad, Brendan and Nicole Roberts, Jillian Leslie and Adam Petsos; her great grandchildren, Jussara Koterba and Jeremy Duarte, Julia Koterba, Ashlyn Martin, Sophia and Christopher Meuerle, Carson Ascough, Matty and Wes Gardner and Ella Puma; her great-great grandchild, Jenevieve Duarte; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be hosted at St. Anthony's Church before mass from 10am to 11am. The mass will take place at 11 am at St. Anthony's Church, 626 So. Olden Ave., Hamilton, NJ 08629. A private burial will follow.
In lieu of flowers, Joan requests donations to be made to Wounded Warriors. Wounded Warriors Project (WWP) was granted tax-exempt status by the Internal Revenue Service functioning as a charity under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations to the organization are deductible as charitable contributions. The WWP Federal I.D. number for donations is #20-2370934.
