July 28, 1944 – January 10, 2026
Karen P. Krohn, a woman of profound compassion and lifelong dedication to others, passed away peacefully at her home on January 10, 2026, at the age of 81.
Born on July 28, 1944, Karen was raised in Ridgewood, New Jersey. In 1974, she met the love of her life, Alan, while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force and she was working as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The couple moved to Toms River in 1984, where they built a beautiful life together. In December 2025, they were blessed to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
Karen’s professional journey was a testament to her determination and her heart for service. At the age of 50, she returned to her studies at Ocean County College to become a Registered Nurse. For over 20 years, she served as a Hospice Nurse, providing comfort and dignity to patients and their families during their most difficult moments. Her work earned her the deep respect of her colleagues and the eternal gratitude of those she cared for.
A devoted matriarch, Karen is survived by her beloved husband, Alan; her children, Jeff Krohn (and his wife Megan) of Toms River, Amy Walsh (and her husband Chris) of East Greenwich, RI, and Laura Tagliarino of Barnegat Twp. She was the proud grandmother of Brady, Madeline, and Amelia Krohn; Emily and Isla Walsh; and Joseph Lucas, Angelina, Caitlin, and George Tagliarino. Her legacy also continues through her 12 great-grandchildren.
Karen was truly an amazing human being, and while her family mourns her loss, they find comfort in knowing that heaven has gained an angel.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 22, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home in Toms River.
