

Lloyd Thurston Turner, 88, of Berkeley Township, NJ, passed away on February 8, 2016, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Orange, NJ, to the late Martha and George Turner Sr., and was the oldest of nine siblings. He was a proud veteran serving his country in the U.S. Army. After 38 years as a long distance tractor trailer driver; Lloyd retired from the Teamsters and went on to drive commuter and school buses. His many hobbies included auto mechanic work, home improvement projects, gardening, playing softball, and playing and listening to jazz music. Lloyds favorite past time was having fun with his family and friends. He was a happy, loving person, and will be dearly missed by them.
Lloyd was predeceased by his two brothers: George “Willie” Turner and Luis “Earl” Turner; and his son-in-law Quintin Penn. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, the love of his life, Carrie Turner; his three loving daughters: Darlene Annette Penn of Cincinnati, Ohio, Stephanie Denise Clarington of Manahawkin, NJ, and Karen Monique Okechukwu and her husband Thank God Madu Okechukwu of Bayville, NJ. He is also survived by two brothers: Donald Turner Floyd of Virginia, and Leon Turner of Newark, NJ; his four sisters: Pauline Pierce of Burlington, NJ, Marie Turner of Newark, NJ, Ruby White of Newark, NJ, and Martha Turner of Newark, NJ; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his former son-in-law Elizer Clarington, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 11th, from 7:00 -9:00 PM at the Second Baptist Church, 2 First Street, South Toms River, NJ. The funeral service will be held Friday, 11:00 AM at church.
