Lucille A. Rohde, 84, of Toms River, NJ was called home on August 11, 2025. Born in Jersey City, NJ in 1941 to Mary and Victor Marano, Lucille grew up with a heart that seemed to know no limits when it came time to giving. Her generous spirit touched the lives of family, friends, and strangers alike. She left this world as she lived in it – faithful, loving, and full of life.
Lucille’s love for Jesus and her special devotion to our Blessed Mother guided her every day. Her faith was as steady as it was inspiring, and she shared it not through grand gestures, but through daily acts of kindness and grace. A woman of deep devotion, she made many pilgrimages to Medjugorje, where she felt closest to our Blessed Mother. She never returned empty-handed. Suitcases filled with blessed rosary beads and medals would find their way into the hands of neighbors, friends, and even strangers – anyone who might need a reminder of faith, comfort, or hope.
She also had a lighter side – one that adored the New York Yankees and especially Mariano Rivera. She could talk baseball with anyone and was never shy about cheering from the stands or the couch. Her great sense of humor and contagious laugh made every gathering brighter.
Lucille leaves behind her partner of thirty-five years, Frank Maschefzky and is survived by her loving daughters Marianne Russo (Patrick Severe), Paula Rohde, and Lisa Strong; her stepdaughter Sharon Schlueter (Chris); her granddaughters Sara Moretti (Dylan), Sondra Tate, and Jennifer Frances (Dave); and two great-granddaughters. She is predeceased by her brother, Richard Marano.
She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her open hand, and her open heart. Those who loved her take comfort in knowing that she is now in the loving embrace of Jesus and the Blessed Mother she so dearly cherished.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 15 from 4 PM to 8 PM at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 16 at 10:00 AM at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 130 St. Maximilian Lane, Toms River, NJ 08757. Entombment will follow at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, Christ the King Catholic Mausoleum.
