

Ralph Behan, 94, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on April 11, 2016. He was born in Jersey City, NJ, and lived in Maywood before moving to Toms River in 1979. Ralph was a proud veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Marines. He was a Time Study Engineer for Bendix Corporation in Teterboro, NJ, for 37 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Holiday City West Settlers Bowling League at Playdrome. Ralph’s passion was being in the ocean on his boogie board. He was well known among boogie boarders and made many, many trips to Hawaii to indulge his favorite pastime. He had an exuberance for life, and loved having fun with his family and friends.
Ralph was pre-deceased by his son Kurt Johnson and his brother Walter A. Behan and his wife Audrey. He is survived by his beloved wife Gertrude of 54 wonderful years; his children: Dr. Glenn Behan and his soulmate Dr. Laurie Pearlman of Manchester, Eric Johnson of Sussex, and Gail Burneyko and her husband Bill of Matawan. Ralph is also survived by three grandchildren: Alissa Burneyko, Ivy Johnson, and Holly Gnecco and her husband Chris; two great-grandsons: Maddox and Cristofer; his daughter-in-law Lynda Johnson; his nephew Warren Behan and his wife Diana and niece Brenda Behan.
There will be a Memorial Gathering to celebrate Ralph’s life on Sunday, April 24, from 2:00 p.m. until the Service at 4:00 p.m. at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ.
