He served as a Sergeant First Class in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Prior to retiring, he worked as a Bus Operator for the New York City Transit Authority on Staten Island.
He is survived by his wife, Doreen Ann (nee Burnett) Ballard; his children, Micheal Crystal and Joseph; his parents, Jeanne and Robert Ballard Sr.; his brother, Kevin Ballard and his wife Elizabeth; his sister, Jennine Raskin and her husband Robert; and eight grandchildren, Adriana, Brianna, Adrian, Liliana, Ariyah, Mayla, and Ja-Leeya.
Visitation will be on Monday from 3-7pm at Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River.
Masks are required in the funeral home.
