Butch was born in Toms River to Betty and Sigmond Jr. The first of three sons. Butch was an avid hunter, sportsman, fisherman and gardener. He grew up on a chicken farm on White Oak bottom Road.
In his young years he was a member of the 4-H club. As a US Army veteran he served in the Vietnam war in the late 60s. After being discharged he met his wife Karen and started a family. As a life member of the Pleasant Plains Gun Club and a member of the Ocean County Fish and Game semi-wild Gun Club he stocked pheasants during hunting seasons for more than 20 years.
He worked for Reed Manufacturing as a mechanic for a number of years after which he was employed by JCP&L at the oyster Creek power plant as an “A” mechanic working on the nuclear reactor. After retiring, he loved spending summers with his family at his cabin located in the endless mountains of Pennsylvania. During retirement he developed a passion for Taxidermy, mounting Whitetail deer for many years. As a loving husband, father and grandfather he took an active role in his grandchildren‘s lives.
He’s predeceased by his parents, Betty and Sigmond Jr, his brothers Ellis and Ronald. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen, his son Sigmond IV (Roberta), his son, Chad (Heather), and his grandchildren, Chelsea, Chad, Kayla, Alexandra and Sigmond V.
A visitation will take place Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River, NJ. At this time the funeral service and Military Honors are pending. Please check back later for updated service times.
