Suzanne M. Bowes

Born in South Amboy, and became a life-long resident of Toms River after spending many summers there as a child. She is a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Sayreville and Boston University, majoring in Education.

Suzanne began her career teaching at Central Regional School District, and then went on to teach Business courses in Point Pleasant Boro High School until 1981. Later, she became a teacher at The Stuart School of Business in Wall Township. Her final career was as supervisor of Child Support and Probation in Toms River before finally retiring.

She was an avid quilter, making many gifts for friends and family over the years. She loved reading, playing Mahjong, and sitting by the lagoon in her swing, cooking, and doing puzzles. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. She leaves a lasting imprint on us all.

She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Dorothea (Helen) Schachel, brother Charles Schachel, and former husband, William Bowes. She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Schachel in Florida, William (BJ) Bowes and his wife Lauren in Beachwood, Kevin Bowes, his wife Kelly, and their three children in Georgia, and her daughter, Clancy Langan and her husband Michael in Beachwood. She was a very devoted and loving grandmother, affectionately known as Nanny, to Addison, Drew, Brady, and Kylie. Suzanne was also a very loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. She spent a lot of time with her godson John Schachel, nephew James Schachel, niece Kelly Heyer, and their spouses and children.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 12th at 10:00 am at St. Joseph's Church, 685 Hooper Ave., Toms River. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Toms River.
