Thomas “Tom” Lowden, 71, of Ocean County, was born in Newark, New Jersey, in 1954 and passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, after a courageous five-year battle with cancer. Throughout his life, Tom was known as an exceptionally hardworking man—reliable, determined, and committed to providing for his family and serving his community through his work.
For many years, Tom worked as a mechanic and supervisor of trucks and heavy equipment for Ocean County. He took tremendous pride in his job, ensuring the fleet remained safe, dependable, and ready for the work that needed to be done. His dedication, steady work ethic, and hands-on skill earned him the respect of those who worked alongside him.
Tom was an avid fisherman and cherished the mornings he spent on the water with his son Ricky, teaching him patience, responsibility, and the importance of a strong work ethic—values Tom lived by every day. As a coach and mentor, he believed that effort and determination were the keys to achieving one’s goals.
Tom shared a deep love of music with his wife Tammy, his partner for 40 years. Together they were devoted fans of the Brue Crew and developed a warm friendship with the band. Their shared nights of concerts, laughter, stories, and familiar smiles became some of their happiest memories together.
Tom also held special moments with each of his children close to his heart. One of his most cherished memories was with his daughter Brianna, his “little girl.” When she was 26, he took her to see her favorite country artist, Luke Bryan. A strong coastal snowstorm made the drive home impossible, turning the night into an unexpected adventure. They stayed in Atlantic City, sharing stories and laughs, and created a memory they both treasured.
Another joyful memory was a night spent with his daughter Veronica in Seaside, New Jersey. After seeing a band together, their simple evening turned into a long, laughter-filled night neither wanted to end—one they both remembered fondly throughout the years.
Tom is survived by his wife of 40 years Tammy Lowden; his children Ricky (Richard) and his wife Veronica Marie, Veronica Lynne and her husband Chaz; and Brianna “Bri” Lowden, his little girl, and her fiancé Jeff Augustino. Thomas Lowden III and partner Christine Cerez; Brian Lowden and his wife Heather; and Christina and her husband Steve Egloff. Tom leaves behind his grandchildren Kaylie, Brayden, Owen, Ethan, Adam, Riley, Kelsey, and Mackenzie.
He will be remembered as a hardworking man, a devoted father, a loving husband, and someone who left lasting memories through his strength, his dedication, and the moments he shared with those he loved most.
A celebration of his life will be held in the spring/summer of 2026
