Walter A. Boback, 48, of Beachwood, passed away peacefully, after battling leukemia for three years, surrounded by his loved ones at Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack. Born in Englewood, Walter resided in Pompton Lakes, before coming to Beachwood in 1994. He worked for NJ Transit as a locomotive engineer for the past 17 years, and was a member of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Walter was a devoted Husband, Father, and a friend to all, who never lost his sense of Humor.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy (Inserra) Boback; his sons, Connor and Collin, both at home; and his daughter, Sarah, also at home. He is also survived by his brother, John Boback and his wife Robyn of Flagler, Fla.; and his sisters, Barbara Matulj of Walton, N.Y., and Mary Sisto and her husband Sal of East Brunswick.
Visiting will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7 at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8 at the funeral home, followed by burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Toms River.
