Warren earned an Associate’s degree from Union College, graduated from Newark State College in 1972 with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and earned a Master’s degree in Student Services shortly thereafter. Warren began his career as a teacher in Berkeley Heights, NJ, and subsequently married Jane Pilkington in 1972, whom he met in college. Warren moved from classroom teaching to administration at Union County College and Union County VocTech, both in Cranford, NJ. Living in New Providence, NJ, Warren and Jane’s family grew with the births of three children: Rachel, David and Jonathan. Warren transitioned from a career in education to a career in banking working primarily in trust for several New Jersey banks. The family moved to Toms River, NJ, in 1986. As the children left home, Warren and Jane moved one more time to Island Heights, NJ, where he resided until his death.
A life-long numismatist, Warren enjoyed obtaining, analyzing and selling coins and was always willing to evaluate coins for friends and relatives. Warren’s other volunteer efforts included the Finance Commission at The Presbyterian Church of Toms River. Always an avid history buff, Warren could be counted on for endless history facts and Jeopardy answers. He could often be found driving through Island Heights, classical music on the radio, with his dog, Dougall, along for the ride.
Warren is survived by his wife Jane and his children Rachel Williams (Ryan), David Kahnt (Rebecca), and Jonathan Kahnt (Becky). He is also survived by five grandchildren: Ian and Evan Williams; and Sam, Abigail and Hannah Kahnt. Grandchild number six is due in September.
