William J. Currie, 76, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on February 13, 2020 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. He was born in Jersey City, NJ, and lived in northern NJ before moving to Toms River in 2001. William was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked at Easton Oil Company of Jersey City then Mystic Bulk Trucking Company in Bayonne for over 30 years, retiring in 2001. William was “Mr. Fixit”. He loved working on cars and trucks and loved to cook. His specialty was breakfast and he made the lightest, fluffiest pancakes, and outstanding coffee. William loved decorating outdoors for all the holidays, especially Christmas. People would come from all around the area to admire his extensive decorations.
William was predeceased by his parents William and Jennie (Lund) Currie, and his sister and brother-in-law Jean and Bill Pierce. He is survived by his loving wife JoAnn (DeMaio) Currie, his son William Currie and wife Barbara, his daughter Karen Blankenship, his three grandchildren PJ, Jared, and Jordan; his very close friends Leslie and Sal Assante; and many nieces and nephew.. William was a happy and fun loving person and will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 19th, from 4 to 8 PM, at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ 08753. The Funeral Service will be on Thursday at 11:15 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
