1915 - 2014
On their 67th wedding anniversary, finally joined his darling wife Agnes, to hold her in his arms for eternity. Fred, oldest of 5, was predeceased by all but his youngest sibling. He leaves behind his “Daddy’s Girl” Nancy and her family. WWII Flight Lieutenant, Fred served on both Canadian coasts from 1939 until the war’s end. Born in Winnipeg, Fred married Agnes Parker from Ottawa in 1947, and they lived thereafter in Toronto. Fred was formerly owner of Routley’s and then Lake’s Wallpaper and Paint stores. Fred was a dedicated family man and true gentleman, whose last enduring words were “thank you”. A memorial will take place in October. Donations to the place where he was so very happy and well cared for, Ina Grafton Gage Home would be appreciated. www.iggh.org/donatenow. Thank you IGGH staff, Rowena and Juliette, for making my dad so happy in his vulnerable last years and keeping him supplied with ice cream and ketchup. When tending the gravesite of his wife and mother-in-law, Dad always tipped his hat and said “Don’t worry, I’ll be back.” Dad, you always kept your promises, and so I have to let you go. Give my love to Mom, Gaga and Pepper.
