Our mom, born in the late 30s, survived a world war as a young girl. This experience is what may have helped shape her as a fighter and survivor through hardships. As a young woman, she met and married (Giuseppe 1928-2015) the oldest and most handsome of five brothers.
They embarked on a new life leaving Italy behind. She raised four children in a foreign country that became her new home for well over a decade. Afterwards, she and our dad once again embarked on a new life and made Canada their permanent home for the next 48 years.
Our mom always welcomed family and friends equally. She was a mom and nonna to our friends. They all came to eat her delicious home-cooked meals and for the welcome that they would always feel. She worked hard and sacrificed her own pleasures for her children.
Our mom fought a long and tiring five-year battle with breast cancer. She was tenacious until the end.
Mom, your absence is already felt by all you touched but especially by your children (Maria, Rose, Tony, Angelica) and grandchildren (Tania, Alexandra, Danielle, Shonnaugh, Stephen). You will forever be remembered and loved.
