

Arnie was a pipe carrier and a traditional member of his community. His traditional spirit name was Blue Standing Spirit Man / Wind Coming from Water. He was a proud member of Batchewana First Nation.
He was the beloved son of the late Patricia Porte and Ernie Lewis, and a dear brother to Michael Lewis, Maureen Lewis, Maurice Gervais, Dan Shaule, and Wayne Lewis.
He was a cherished uncle to Atreyu Lewis, Rob Forrester, Jamie Lewis and Janey Porte, as well as a beloved relative to many family members and relatives throughout Turtle Island.
Arnie held a deep love for Spirit, traditional culture, and prayer. He enjoyed cooking and dreamed of becoming a chef. He was always supportive of those he loved and found joy in listening to music, visiting the land, and taking long walks.
Arnie was also an altar boy in Toronto and spent much of the 1970s and 1980s at the Native Centre, where he remained connected to community and culture.
He will be dearly remembered for his love of family, community, tradition, the land, and the people around him.
