Born in Hungary, Joe came to Canada with his family at a very young age. He was a longtime employee of CIBC, where he worked for many years before retiring.
Joe was the beloved husband to Julie (Szabo) Bakos. Together they shared nearly 73 years of a happy marriage and would have celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary on October 17.
He was a devoted father to Joe Jr. and Steve, father-in-law to their spouses, grandfather of six, and great-grandfather of two.
One of the defining joys of Joe’s life was being a private pilot. He loved taking to the skies in his Cessna and continued to do so until the age of 90. Flying brought him a lifelong sense of freedom and adventure.
Joe will be lovingly remembered always.

Visitation will take place at Jerrett Funeral Homes, 660 Kennedy Road, Toronto, ON, M1K2B5, CA, on July 15, 2026, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, followed by a Committal Service at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 2700 Kingston Rd, Toronto, ON, M1M 1M5, CA, on July 15, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
