Benito "Ivo" Gatti

Benito was the devoted husband of Anna Rosa (née Simeoni) for 67 cherished years. He was a proud and loving father to Diana, Emanuela (Rick), the late Luigi (Antonietta), Steven (Maria), Robert (Anna Maria), and Dennis. He was a beloved Nonno to his grandchildren: Christopher (Gloria), Adriana (Stephen), Michael (Samantha), Stephanie (Michael), Julia (James), Paul (Nicole), Sarah, Peter, Daniel, Philip (Conchita), Matthew, Emily, and Adalina, and a treasured Bisnonno to his great-grandchildren: Grace, Audrey, Ava, Emma, Gia, Adam, Adalyn, Connor, Mila, Leah, Emilia, and Lyla.

Benito was born on January 12, 1934, in Fiera di Treviso, Veneto, Italy, one of eleven children to the late Angelo and Giovanna (Crosato) Gatti.

With courage and determination, he immigrated to Canada with his beloved Anna Rosa to build a new life filled with opportunity, hard work, and devotion to family.

He settled in the Downsview community, within walking distance of St. Philip Neri Church, where his faith remained a guiding light throughout his life. Benito was a man of deep belief, trusting always in God’s love and mercy. Through tireless dedication and unwavering integrity, he provided for his family and created a legacy rooted in love, perseverance, and generosity.

Benito will be forever remembered for his kindness, strength, and the boundless love he gave to those around him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, relatives, and all who were blessed to know him.

An afternoon visitation will be held at Delmoro Funeral Home, located at 61 Beverly Hills Drive, Toronto, ON, M3L1A2, on January 15, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. An evening visitation will follow at the same venue from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

If desired the family has requested donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Canadian Cancer Society.

A funeral mass will be conducted at St Philip Neri Catholic Church, 2100 Jane St, Toronto, ON, M3M 1A1, on January 16, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Entombment will take place at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery & Funeral Home, 7300 Hwy 27, Vaughan, ON, L4H 4Y8, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm on the same day.
