Born on March 17, 1940, in Toritto, Bari, Italy, she lived a life of reverent faith with a deep devotion to her family. She married Giuseppe Albanese on February 26, 1966, and immigrated to Canada on August 9, 1970.
With industry and dedication, she built a life for her family in Canada and set a foundation of opportunities for future generations. She was a creative and unparalleled seamstress, with remarkable culinary skills that surpassed the professionals in detail and flavour.
A devout Roman Catholic, she was an extraordinary woman who was always there to listen, and who desired to help others in any way that she could. Upliftingly humorous, she was exceptionally wise with an abundance of spiritual and physical strength.
The profound love that she shared with others during her generous life will always endure in our hearts. She will be forever remembered, cherished, and immensely missed by her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews, and all loving friends.
Carmela has been reunited in heaven with her beloved late husband, Giuseppe. Loving mother of Giuseppe (Jenette), Grace (Carlos), Michael (Zahily) and the treasured nonna of Stephanie, Alexandria (Patrick), Daniel (Julieta), David (Yasmeen) and Joey. Sister of Giuseppina (Pasquale) from Milano, Italy, Maria from Modena, Italy, and Tony (Anna) from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She is predeceased by her siblings, Francesco and Donato.
Family and friends will be received at the Jerrett Funeral Home, 1141 St. Clair Ave. W. (1 block east of Dufferin) on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, from 2-4pm and 6-9pm. Please note that masks are no longer mandatory to attend a visitation. However, visiting family and friends are welcome to wear a mask, if preferred.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at 12pm (noon) at St. Nicholas of Bari Church, 1277 St. Clair Ave. W. We ask that guests kindly arrive at the church approximately 15 minutes prior to the Mass. Entombment will follow at Parklawn Cemetery, 2845 Bloor St. W.
