The Garisto Family from Markham St. has so many beautiful memories of you and your family, we were like family to all of you. You had a heart of gold that we will cherish forever. I remember days coming home from work and passing by the Hardware store and you ALWAYS called upon me to feed me whatever you had cooked, how can I forget this....and how you nicknamed me Sabrina....these memories of you will never be forgotten not to me or my family, my mom adored you like a sister, and we will always consider you like family. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to meet you. I listen to the memories shared amongst your children and grandchildren, and I wish I had met you sooner. I will never forget you. Seeing you put the biggest smile on my face. You always welcomed me with open arms and a humongous smile on your face, calling me "Bella". Visiting you at the hospital and nursing home broke my heart, because you didn't deserve the suffering. But through the love of your family and everyone's prayers, God called you to unite with Him and your husband once again. I understand that you valued your family tremendously, including respect within the family. I know you and your husband, as now guardian angels, will watch over the family and guide each of them in the right direction. You left an unforgettable mark on everyone, one that will be cherished forever.

Dear Nonna

Thinking about how much has changed in the past years is crazy. I remember once upon a time when I used to come over yours and Nonno Jimmy's house as a lad you would always cook pasta, talk to me in English even, and always offer me
Cheerios and Lucky Charms. Man, how things change eh? I still remember laughing in the backseat of the car whenever we passed a cop car and you would say "Au cumpare" and we would laugh. Some of my best childhood memories were in the old house basement hanging out and playing games like bartender with my cousins. You valued family and you were always the happiest when you saw everyone all together. Hopefully we'll keep all getting together more often for you. It's been a long time coming hasn't it Nonna? Ever since October 2006 you could see and tell the devastation  you faced when Nonno Jimmy passed away and it was evident that from the impact of the blow you would never be the same. Though it seemed like you didn't recognized me every time I would talk to you and look in your eyes when I came to visit you at Villa Colombo I knew that somewhere deep inside you knew it was me. I could tell because every time I extended my hand to you, you would grip it with yours and wouldn't let go. Although no one can replace the role you played in not only my life but the life of others around you, while we feel sorrow, in a way we feel joy. There is no suffering in heaven and there is no such thing as pain. And once again, you are reunited with Nonno, the man you love and you are finally back together after being so crushed in losing him in the first place and one day we will all join you and get together as a big family in heaven once again, and one day I will be with you to come eat Cheerios once again. Have a peaceful rest and live in paradise. You deserve nothing less. I love you Nonna Carmelina I will miss you so.

Dear Nonna, I can't express how much I will miss you. The unconditional love you had for me, all of your grandchildren and everyone in our family will never be forgotten. It truly saddens me to see you go but knowing you're in a better place and finally reunited with Nonno Jimmy allows me a sigh of relief.  There are no words to describe how much we miss and love you; your beautiful spirit and soul will live within us forever. The pain is finally gone and now you shine above us in heaven with Nonno. Finally your suffering is over.  You are finally reunited with Nonno, who I know you missed more then anything in the world, and with that said it makes me feel at peace knowing that you are in a better place. Dear Mom, I know you suffered a great deal over the past several years.
However, God has a plan for everyone.  He opens one door and closes another.  Through your life you sacrificed everything you could possibly sacrifice.  However, those sacrifices shaped the person you were; strong, loving, caring, hard working and most of all dedicated to your spouse, family, brothers, sister and all the people you knew. In your last years of life your quality of life was not at its best, so on August 23rd, 2013 you were called to the gates of heaven your duty on earth was completed.  So now you have started a new eternal life amongst other loved ones that have passed also reunited with Dad that we have sadly missed for the last 7 years. Your suffering is over!
