It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carmen Dolores Vasconcelos, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world on December 27, 2024, after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Carmen’s spirit, defined by creativity and selflessness, touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Carmen’s creativity was a gift she shared with the world in countless ways. Whether crocheting intricate designs, knitting warm and beautiful creations, baking delicious treats, crafting lifelike sugar flowers, folding delicate origami, or designing imaginative LEGO masterpieces, her artistic talents brought joy to all who were fortunate enough to witness or receive them. Her hands were a source of magic, turning simple materials into works of art filled with love and care.
Her selflessness was the cornerstone of her life. Carmen embodied the meaning of love in action, always putting the needs of others before her own. Whether it was baking someone’s favourite dessert, crafting a special gift, or offering a quiet act of kindness, her generosity knew no bounds. She was a beacon of strength and grace, teaching those around her the true essence of giving and compassion.
Carmen leaves behind her devoted husband, Manuel Francisco Vasconcelos, who was her partner in love and life. Her legacy continues through her three children: Paul Jason Vasconcelos, Michael Soares Vasconcelos, and Patricia Da Costa Vasconcelos, along with her cherished daughters-in-law, Tracy Vasconcelos, and her loving son-in-law, John Faria.
Her adoring grandchildren—Karen Vasconcelos, Karmen Vasconcelos Steeves (Spencer Steeves), Joseph Vasconcelos, Vitoria Vasconcelos, Mackai Orton, Logan Orton, Michael Vasconcelos, Cristian Vasconcelos, and bonus grandson Lucas Faria—were her greatest joys, each carrying forward a piece of her boundless love and wisdom.
The entire McCallum family, alongside countless friends and loved ones, mourns the loss of this remarkable woman whose warmth and generosity made everyone feel at home in her presence.
Carmen’s life was a testament to the power of love, creativity, and unwavering kindness. While her physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched.
