"Miss Davidge" was my English teacher at LPCI and one of my favourite teachers. We had many great talks. As a life long North Toronto (Ranleigh Ave and Fairlawn Ave.) resident I was always very happy to run into her over the years since LPCI to have a chat about my own teaching career and just to catch up. Just back from and extended trip and very sorry indeed to hear this news ... my thoughts are with you.

Mrs Finch was my home room teacher in Gr 9.  She was a dedicated teacher.  It is very sad news of her passing.  Condolences to the family and please know she touched so many of our lives in her profession.

Mrs. Finch was my English teacher for 2 of my 5 years in high school at LPCI. She was a great teacher and I never forgot her. I told her so one time when I bumped into years after I graduated. My prayers and sympathies.

My grade 9 English teacher at LPCI, she still remembered me when I would see her years later on the TTC. I'm so sorry to hear that she has passed. Much love and strength to her family.

  I'm writing with a heavy heart. I'll always remember Carol with her sweet smile, long pigtails and pleated skirts. They were fond memories for me, but short.
  Since our school was yet to be built, all the school aged children that lived in Bennington Hts. were bussed to Whitney Public School. That's where I met Carol.
  Our teacher was Miss Bedford, She taught the morning kindergarten class. I'll always remember our dreams were shattered when Miss Bedford told us there wasn't a Santa Claus. At this class I became very attached to Carol and soon adored her. I still have our kindergarten class photo where we sat crossed legged in a circle. I loved going to Carol's house. Many times I did not want to get back on that bus. 
  This school arrangement was short lived and the next year I was bussed  to a school in Deer Park. We were far too young to keep up a long distant friendship, but I never forgot Carol.
  Please accept my heartfelt sympathy at this most difficult time. Heaven will be a much better place now that Carol is there.

I'm so sorry to see that Miss Finch is gone.  She was my grade nine English teacher at Lawrence Park Collegiate.  It seems that I was just thinking of her the other day and it is so easy to recall the many afternoon lessons...She loved her job and conveyed her love of Shakespeare to her students. Dear Russ,  I was saddened to see the obituary for your wife, Carol, in the December 31 Globe.  Please accept my sincere condolences.  Even though I haven't seen you since approximately 1962, I sometimes wonder how you are doing.

Gone too soon. I attended Jarvis collegiate in the late fifties and was a classmate of Carol. I will always remember her sunny personality and radiant smile. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Russ:  I wish to send you my sincere condolences on your loss.  I so enjoyed working with Carol at Lawrence.  She was such a gentle, nurturing individual and a great mentor. Miss Davidge taught me English at LPCI in grade 9 in 1967. I think it was her 2nd year. She had the ability to make English, including Shakespeare, relevant and fun for young people. It was a time of change in education and she was part of the generational change to younger, better educated, modern teachers. She was only 6-10 years older than the students, unusual at LPCI at the time. Carol was a skilled and caring educator and is respected and fondly remembered by her many students. Listening to Mrs. Finch read aloud left me mesmerized, each and every time.  I still hear her dulcet voice every time I pick up a copy of Romeo and Juliet to share with my own students.  I am sorry to hear of her passing, my condolences to her family.

Dan Morrison Grade 10 English. Every time I hear the term "lunatic" I think of her --> BECAUSE she was telling us about some really hokey play she had attended in which a group of lunatics appeared willy-nilly. With big jazz hands she kept exclaiming "AND HERE COME THE LUNATICS AGAIN..." Thanks for some great memories. Rest in peace and rise in glory.

Russ, I am sorry to hear of Carol's passing. I enjoyed having her as an English teacher at LPCI.  Remember all of the special times you shared together.

I am shocked and greatly saddened to know of Carol's passing.  It is hard to believe that someone so charming, intelligent, warm and witty is no longer with us.  Our friendship back in the late fifties and sixties has always been very special to me.  My deepest condolences to Russell, Mary Louise, Grace, Betty and Ron and all of the family.

My deepest sympathy go out to Russel and the family. I have very fond memories of Carol. We worked together at Lawrence Park (although not in the same department). She was a most amazing and caring person.

Carol was indeed a very special person. Although I was not part of the English Dept., she was ever so kind to me when I started my teaching career at Lawrence Park. My thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to the family.

I had "Miss Davidge" as an English teacher at LPCI. She instilled in me a love for the written word, and she is remembered with kind and thankful thoughts. My condolences to the family.
