Caterina touched the hearts of every one that came in her life, 
At her family dinners in her kitchen she welcomed extended members of her family, made them feel part of her own.    

she loved her children deeply and encouraged her Grandchildren to grow and prosper.

The love she had for her Children, her Grandchildren and her Church was deep and forever lasting.
I feel so grateful to have had her in my life. My heart is with the entire family during this difficult time. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.

Zia Caterina ( Nuzza)  legacy will live on in our hearts.

Her phone calls on birthday's  name days   and some time a call  just to check in, to know how everyone was, that made us so happy to hear her beautiful voice.
And she always  would say ti voglio tanto bene.

She truly loved here family and extended family she always made friend's and family feel so wolcome in her home.
Coffee was always ready when you walked in  along with  her homemade biscotti. 

Zia will never let you leave empty hands she had a little bag with some biscotti or some veggies from her backyard ready for you to take home.

Zio Maurizio and zia Nuzza welcomed  the Barbieri family with 5 Children in there home in 1965 when arriving from Italy.  
10 Children in one house lots of fun for the children!!!

We will miss Caterina’s beautiful energy on the street, she shaped us and we will always feel her presence.  Condolences from all of us, our children who knew her as the nona of the neighbourhood, and Nancy and I who knew her as a cherished neighbour, now an angel.  Rest in peace, Caterina.  Nancy, Marsh, Kit and Imogen.

Catarina was my friend and neighbour for years while I lived in Toronto. I will always cherish the memories I have of helping her toil in her garden while she shared her immeasurable wealth of kind-hearted knowledge and advice. She would often phone me and leave me adorable voicemails asking how I was and if I needed soup (she was constantly worried about how skinny of a young man I used to be). Her soups were delicious and nutritious made from the spoils her vast and beautiful garden, and I surely savoured every last drop. I will cherish her friendship and guidance for the rest of my life, and I know she’s up in heaven with her beloved husband, looking proudly upon all of her loved ones.

Caterina taught me so much about life. She opened her heart to me, when I was her neighbour on Shaw st. Working with her in the garden, learning her techniques & methods for growing - brought me a lot of joy & wisdom that I now still carry with me today. Her hardwork & perserverence was inspiring to me. She taught me about patience, with the garden & also, in life. Sharing time with her was truly a blessing. I often wanted to spend the summer days with her, however I could. I liked being put “to work” & turning her garden soil.  Everytime I garden now, I think of the little things she taught me & the joy she brought. After I moved away, I would make a point to bring her some of her favourite flowers - Iris’ and stop in to her beautiful home to visit with her. She was always slightly stunned by the flowers but then eventually would put them in a vase to enjoy :) We shared many smiles, laughs & many cold espressos, vino rosso, and her delicious Minestra di Tenerumi - in her kitchen. Her faith & devotion was infectious. She was a great friend. Her warm & beautiful spirit will live on in my heart & all the other hearts she touched forever. I’m sure her garden will be glorious in heaven.

It is with a very heavy heart that we’re sending our deepest condolences. Although far away at the moment, our hearts are with you.
Your mom was especially cherished for the love, wisdom and positive outlook on life she had.
When I told Ben she passed away, he said, “you mean ‘sweetie heart ?’”, because that’s what they affectionately used to call each other. She knew how to make you feel great. 
I really appreciate the connection our moms had, as every night they’d phone each other to give a ‘buona notte’. I’m honoured to have known her and shared a name with her.
