It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine Ann Chisholm “Cathy”, April 20, 1955 to March 18, 2022. Born in Antigonish, daughter of Joan (MacIsaac) Chisholm and the late Bernie Chisholm Sr.
Cathy put up a brave three year fight with cancer, much of that time in Toronto, Ont., participating in a clinical trial. We would like to thank Princess Margaret Cancer Centre for their care while Cathy was in Toronto as well as Toronto Grace for the care in her final days.
Cathy spent many years in payroll with the federal government including Correctional Services in Kingston, Ont., DND in Oromocto, N.B., Parks Canada in Halifax and finally at the Public Pay Centre in Miramichi, N.B. Cathy had a zest for life and people. She would befriend anyone and everyone, taking a keen interest in all. She especially enjoyed spending time at the cottage at Brule Shore, where a long walk on the beach was a favourite way to invigorate herself. Cathy loved to keep busy and would try anything. She was always making plans for the next adventure, usually inviting friends and family and a girls weekend away was always in the works.
Cathy is survived by her husband, Brent Alward, Miramichi, N.B.; mother, Joan Chisholm, Truro; brothers, Bernie (Karen), Middle Sackville; Gerard (Heather), Truro; Paul (Della), Truro; sister, Marie (Rob), Halifax.
In lieu of a service, per Cathy’s request, her ashes will be sprinkled in the ocean at the family’s summer cottage. If you wish to make a donation in Cathy’s honour, please consider the Canadian Cancer Society, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre or a charity of your choice.
