Our Dad passed away peacefully at Hennick Humber Hospital on the evening of Sunday June 14, 2026 at the age of 94.
Predeceased by his devoted and loving wife Jean.
Loving father of Rob (Lori), Billy (Sharon), and Lisa (Fraser). Proud Grandfather of Kimberly (Ryan), Samantha (Adam), Kelly (Kieran) and Liam.
Dear brother of the late Robert (Bertie), Jack and Eileen. Survived by his sister and brother in-laws (Northern Ireland) ~ Lilian Leathem, May Thompson, Nan & Eddie Mason and Jack Montgomery. Grateful for the all the memories of extended family in Northern Ireland.
To the lifetime of friendships he cherished, the coffee connections and luncheons with his British and Police friends, Dad always enjoyed the banter.
Sincere gratitude to the staff at Hennick Humber Hospital for their support & care.
Dad lived a life defined by service, integrity, family, and friendship. He proudly served with the Toronto Police Service for 31 years. Beyond his career, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who cherished time spent with those he loved. He enjoyed the outdoors and found great pleasure in hunting, fishing, and, in his later years, golfing.
Born in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, he never forgot his roots. We take comfort in knowing that his journey has come full circle and that he is now at peace. We are grateful for the love, guidance, and strength he gave us throughout his life. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy will live on through the many lives he touched and the values he lived by.
A private family service will take place to honour Dad’s life on Monday June 22nd.
Poem:
You held our hands when we were small,
You taught us how to stand, and stand up tall.
Now heaven holds you in its care,
Yet in our hearts, you’re always there.
Though time will pass and years may part,
Your love remains a compass in our heart.
Donations:
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Humber Hennick Hospital or a charity of your choice in Cecil Leathem’s memory
