David was the strangest person I met my first day in Guelph, but he was also the most kind, thoughtful, warm-hearted and adventurous person I have ever known. Thanks David for being my friend when I felt lost, making bus rides more profound and interesting and never being anything less than extraordinary. My heart goes out to everyone that was honoured to have David in there lives, he will be missed

My heart goes out to all of you in the Rutherford family. I babysat David's older brother, and I wish I had the joy of babysitting David back then, he was always smiling, and he will always smile on in our memories.

As a Ypac member I had the privilege of being challenged by David on many occasions. He had so much to offer. It saddens me when a young man with so much potential is taken from us so early. Rest in Peace David. It is well with your soul.

I had only met you a few times but I felt your spirit. I can now feel your absents in this world through my memories and the ones who love you. Goodbye David you are wonderful.

Where there is Light there is knowledge, warmth and guidance. In honor of a most loved and valued person . David we will keep the fires burning.

Our deepest condolences to David's family.  All of us at Hillsdale were deeply saddened and shocked to learn about David's passing. He was such a special person - his brilliance, his artistic ability, his compassion and caring nature, his genuine heart and soul that accepted everyone and his willingness to share his knowledge. It is such a tragedy to lose a child - especially one that was so special.   We were all so happy for him that he was doing so well and attending University. We all feel very honored to have known and worked with David.

My most deepest condolences to David's family from his family at Subway Academy. I was shaken by the news of David. He was mischievous, brilliant and challenged all of us in his own thoughtful way. He was generous in spirit, mind and especially time. He was curious on every subject and would delve in with fearless enthusiasm. We will miss him greatly.

My deepest sympathies. All of us at Subway Academy are greatly saddened by this tragic loss. David and I would often play chess. He was so full of life and possessed so many great qualities. He will be missed.
